Your Provision (Rizq) in Life is from Allah... not the EU

I apologise for the lateness of this advice. However I pray that it is still beneficial for those who wish to reflect.
I was surprised by the amount of Muslims that voted in the EU Referendum without really thinking it through. The emotion and commotion that came with the vote didn't help much either.
The common phrase I heard from Muslims throughout the day was that "this is going to affect our future or our children's future" or that "it's beneficial for us to stay in Europe" and even the odd "vote out because the migrants will take our jobs" which was funny coming from an immigrant Bangladeshi that has just received his shiny new British passport.
It is an emotional topic and one that really needs to be tackled at the most basic level. Let's go right down to ground zero, we believe that the Qur'an is the undisputed and unmatched word of the Creator. Correct? If we don't - then anything you read after this is nonsense to you and I suggest you pick up the Qur'an and re-assess your belief.
Allah (swt) tells us in the Qur'an that sovereignty belongs to Him and Him alone. He (swt) also tells us that we must judge by what He has revealed.

And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you. And if they turn away - then know that Allah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient. TMQ 5:49

It becomes evident that voting for a man-made constitution i.e. U.K, to be a part of another man-made constitution i.e. EU, is clearly forbidden and maybe seen as ascribing partners to the Almighty (swt). If we are to elevate man to such a status alongside Allah as sovereign, we are treading dangerous territory.
This leads one to conclude that if we are not allowed to vote for such a thing, do we sit back and do nothing while the future of our children and ourselves is in the hands of the rest of the country?
To address this question properly, the most important point is to understand where our sustenance and provision really comes from. Do we believe that it is due to our own actions that we provide food, shelter and comfort to ourselves and our families? As Muslims we must know that Allah (swt) is the sole Sustainer (Ar-Razzaq).

And We have provided therein means of living, for you and for those whom you provide not [moving (living) creatures, cattle, beasts, and other animals]. TMQ 15:20

We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the [best] outcome is for [those of] righteousness. TMQ 20:132

Yes - it is correct that man must carry out the actions to earn his provision (Rizq) however the outcome is always from Allah (swt).

Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

"If you were to rely upon Allah with the required reliance, then He would provide for you just as a bird is provided for, it goes out in the morning empty, and returns full." at-Tirmidhi Vol. 4, Book 10, Hadith 2344
We can learn from this ahadith that the bird actively sought it's provision with reliance upon Allah (swt) and returned full only through Allah's (swt) unlimited mercy. The same way we must carry out the action of working and believe the outcome was from Allah (swt).
If it isn't clear enough to us that our provision is from Allah (swt) then let us look at another example of the saying of our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

Anas reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

When you go to bed, say:" Praise is due to Allah Who fed us, provided us drink, sufficed us and provided us with shelter, for many a people there is none to suffice and none to provide shelter." Sahih Muslim Book 48, Hadith 87
Now that we have covered that voting for such a thing is forbidden and that our sustenance is solely from Allah (swt) and not in the hands of some super Euro state that keeps the pound stable. We need to discuss the solution. We are right in....

He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah Edit

“He who obeys the Messenger ﷺ  has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away – We have not sent you over them as a guardian.” TMQ 4:80

We are living in a time where a child’s role model is effectively the Shaytaan dressed up as a man or woman. They follow them in every evil action and to that end, they will be raised up with them on the Day of Judgement and thrown into the fire.
“Let every nation follow that which they used to worship. Then none of those who used to worship anything other than Allah like idols and other deities but will fall in Hell (Fire)” Sahih Bukhari Vol. 6, Book 60, Hadith 105
Why is it that our children end up idolising (sometimes without knowing) certain people opposed to the Messenger ﷺ and his companions?
Today the media has become the most powerful tool in the world. It can shape societies, idolise individuals and brainwash the masses. It’s application is not only what we see or hear on the news channels but the way in which all of the ‘essential’ social tools we interact with daily have been designed.
They are able to precisely target propaganda by choosing what we read the moment we open certain applications. They can facilitate in uniting the world on any given topic of their choosing, for example, a rainbow backdrop over your profile picture in support of LGBT with a click of a button or even a specific national flag.
There is nothing innocent about these tools. In fact, many scholars in the West have written about the use of such tools for controlling the emotions of people on a massive scale. Take for example the journal article titled ‘Experimental evidence of massive-scale emotional contagion through social networks’ which was a study to secretly manipulate posts seen by 700,000 people and monitor their mental states.
Today, it is ever more important to guide our youth as well as ourselves in choosing the right role model. The only role model that will make us successful in this life as well as the next, can be none other than the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, who the companions themselves followed step-by-step.
“Indeed in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.” TMQ 33:21
It is a command from Allah the Almighty that we obey the Messenger ﷺ. Just as it is a command we perform Salah or pay our Zakat. However, many of us have misunderstood the meaning of obeying the Messenger ﷺ.
For every obligation we have the practical method carried out by the Messenger ﷺ, and if the method was absent, the obligation would inevitably be absent. We are a nation that sticks to the method of the Messenger ﷺ on almost every matter, whether that be spiritual or social. Yet we fail to see that the methodology for political matters, such as moving towards an Islamic political solution, has been captured authentically in the Hadiths and Seerah of the Prophet. If only we took it from there, and not our own limited and stubborn minds…

This Ramadhan, let us make a conscious effort to read the Seerah of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and apply it in our lives. Let us narrate the Seerah to our children so that they may build love in their heart for the Messenger ﷺ. Only by knowing what he went through to give us Islam, can we build such a love, and not by mere words.

Allah is the Best of Planners

وَمَكَرُوا وَمَكَرَ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ

“And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners.” TMQ 3:54

It never fails to amaze us how powerful the All Mighty Allah (swt) is. We need not look far to see the effort the enemies of Allah are putting in to derail the Islamic revival. The CIA alone spend 65% of the world’s intelligence spending. They spend $75 billion each year on its intelligence alone. Yet they seem to be facing a losing battle. It reminds me of the verse in the Quran:
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّوا عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً ثُمَّ يُغْلَبُونَ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ يُحْشَرُونَ

“Verily, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend it; but in the end it will become an anguish for them. Then they will be overcomed. And those who disbelieve will be gathered unto Hell.” TMQ 8:36

Since the collapse of the Islamic State in 1924 we can see how many Muslim countries started to become secular. This was visible even in the most superficial of ways such as the way in which Muslims dressed.

Image: Egypt in the 60’s
Since then, the rapid incline in the understanding of Islam, be it spiritually alone, has undone the centuries of work done by the West in colonising the minds of the Muslims and secularising them. Battles may have been won, but not the war…
The West were clearly behind the Arab Spring to mobilise popular youth movements as a springboard for ‘revolution’. A revolution that duped many Islamic groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, only to be scorned and discarded as a failed movement.
Other movements such as Abdul Qadim Zallum’s party are still holding onto to the fact the revolution was ‘blessed’ and that it was hijacked by the West. They are still supporting armed factions in taking the Nusra (support) to move into the implementation (ruling) stage. However the future for such an aspiration, which all it was, is bleak. Syria has not only become a playground for Jihadi’s but a political mess leading to the balkanisation of it. The plan in which the West drew up years prior to the civil war.
The Muslims have been duped and misled by such stratagems by the West and will do so no doubt in the future. However, no matter how detailed and planned their sugar-coated projects are, the Muslims seem to overcome them with the help of Allah (swt) because He plans and He is the Best of Planners.
This does not excuse us from doing nothing. We will all be accountable for the decisions we made in life and for all the time spent idle while the Deen of Allah (swt) remained absent.
We’re in the blessed month of Ramadhan. We should all make a conscious effort to be aware of their plans from now on, so that we don’t see another year of misery but a year of progress and change.

The Secular Attack on the Islamic Ideology

The Secular Attack on the Islamic Ideology

We should not think that the attack on Islam to secularise it, is a new one. In fact, this attack has existed from the time of the Prophet ﷺ. The Quraish intended to rule alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in set terms, but this offer was refused unhesitatingly. The Quraish knew the impact of the Messenger’s ﷺ call. They knew that it would uproot the current system and status quo, and therefore they set out to kill him and derail him from his mission.
If we fast forward to the latter period of the Ottoman Caliphate, we can see the secular movements such as the ‘Young Turks’ were instrumental in uprooting the Islamic State apparatus and replacing it with a secular framework. This was not achieved by the Young Turks in a vacuum confined to Istanbul. As I’ve discussed before, the Europeans were creating inroads into the State as well as radicalising the Muslims who studied abroad into staunch secularists. Centres such as the Istanbul Centre and the Beirut Centre were publishing material that was contrary to Islamic beliefs and distributed in secret on mass. It was inevitable that the State would then collapse at the hand of Ataturk – who never once hid his secular leanings and was rather vocal about them.
Today, we find that the secular attack is as prevalent as it always has been, if not even more so. The Muslims in the Middle East are going through “birth pangs” as said by then US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in 2006. She was in fact talking about the ‘New Middle East’ or better known as the ‘Greater Middle East Initiative’ that was set out in 2004 to uproot the current regimes in the Middle East and replace them with secular democracies. This also meant that the borders drawn by Sykes and Picot are to be deepened and divided further upon sectarian lines. In fact, former US CENTCOM Commander John P. Abizaid stated that [sic]”the borders of the Middle east are falling apart” and “the international community and the leaders in the region have got to decide how best to reshape the Middle East and redraw the boundaries”
The longer we (Muslims) fall in to the traps set out by the leaders of disbelief, the longer the suffering will continue. It is up to the Muslim Ummah to change the situation. This secular attack will be relentless and the outcome will either be societies based on disbelief and disobedience to Allah or worse, abandonment of the Deen altogether.
We must strive to work in an organised manner, as one united entity that refers all their matters back to the Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

The Da'wah Framework

For latest posts visit my new website and subscribe! http://kamkashem.com

Assalaamu Alaikum.
The Da’wah Framework. This is something I’ve always thought about, but could not think of a way to best describe it. What is the Da’wah Framework? Essentially, it is the best way to structure your discussion when giving da’wah. The flowchart below is a very simplified and broad example. However, you will find that most discussions that have gone through the framework are fruitful and worthwhile. Whereas any discussion that is held outside of this framework leads to frustration, fundamental differences, disagreements and sometimes arguments!
TheDawahFramework

As a da’wah carrier, you’ll often find that your discussions are going around in circles and you seem to explain the same point numerous times.
You may be discussing with a Christian, who’s fundamental beliefs will certainly clash with yours and discussing topics such as the Hudud (Punishments under Sharia law) will be a complete waste of time. Unless the correct concepts about Muhammad (saw) being the Messenger of Allah, and that the Qur’an being the speech of Allah, is understood firstly.
If you’re discussing with a non-practicing Muslim, you’ll find that the reason they do not practice Islam is due to their lack of understanding of the religion and conviction in it.
Try it out!
